Danh từ sở hữu là gì?
Từ khi còn nhỏ các bạn có thường nói: “chiếc xe này của ba tôi “, “ cái vườn này của mẹ tôi”. Trong tiếng anh có thể diễn đạt bằng hai cách:
- Sử dụng of cho danh từ sỡ hữu: The car of my father (chiếc xe này của ba tôi); The garden of my mother (cái vườn này của mẹ tôi)
- Sử dụng ‘S để chỉ sở hữu: My father’s car; My mother’s garden
Danh từ sở hữu để chỉ về việc sở hữu những đồ vật, nhà cửa, đất đai, khu vườn….
Lợi ích của sử dụng danh từ sở hữu
Danh từ sở hữu được sử dụng nhằm để làm rõ thêm cho câu văn, câu nói để người đọc có được phần nào hiểu được đây là đồ vật, nhà cửa, cây cối, đất đai…. được sở hữu bởi ai đó, bởi nhóm người nào đó. Ngoài ra đây còn có thể làm cho câu văn bạn thêm trang trọng hơn và được người nghe đánh giá cao về khả năng nói hoặc viết trong tiếng Anh của bạn
Cách dùng danh từ sở hữu
– Thêm ‘S vào tất cả những danh từ chỉ người để chỉ sự sở hữu.
Ví dụ: The teacher’s car (Xe của thầy giáo)
– Thêm ‘S vào tất cả các danh từ chỉ người số nhiều.
Ví dụ: Some men’s job (Công việc của một số người)
– Chỉ thêm (‘) và danh từ chỉ người số nhiều tận cùng bằng S.
Ví dụ: Both teachers’s classes (các lớp học của hai thầy)
Lưu ý:
a) KHÔNG sử dụng ( ‘S ) cho đồ vật, con vật. Mà ta phải sử dụng OF để chỉ sở hữu.
Ví dụ: The arms of this chair are very weak (Những tay ghế này thì rất yếu)
b) Có thể sử dụng sở hữu cách với các danh từ chỉ thời gian, khoảng cách, đo lường, giá cả:
A five minutes’ walk: cuộc đi bộ 5 phút
Two hours’ rest: hai giờ nghỉ ngơi
Two kilometres’s distance: khoảng cách hai cây số
Five dollar’s worth: giá năm đô la
