Ra-ma-ya-na là bộ sử thi, niềm tự hào của người Ấn Độ. Người dân Ấn Độ tin rằng “chừng nào sông chưa cạn, đá chưa mòn thì Ra-ma-ya-na còn mãi làm say lòng người và cứu họ ra khỏi vòng tội lỗi”. Một nhà nghiên cứu phương Tây từng miêu tả về Ra-ma-ya-na: “Đó là tác phẩm chan chứa những âm điệu du dương, toát ra một bầu không khí yên lành và một tình yêu thương vô bờ bến trong hoàn cảnh xã hội đầy sự mâu thuẫn và xung đột” (Michelet).
Một trong những hiện thân của vẻ đẹp làm say lòng người ấy là nhân vật Xi-ta. Nàng không chỉ là hình ảnh bổ sung cho sự kì vĩ của người anh hùng Ra-ma mà còn là minh chứng cho vẻ đẹp chân thực, toàn mĩ của người phụ nữ Ấn, từ hình dáng bên ngoài đến những phẩm chất tâm hồn bên trong.
Vẻ đẹp của nàng luôn được miêu tả gắn liền với cụm từ “gương mặt bông sen ” – đó là chi tiết ngoại hình luôn được láy đi láy lại trong tác phẩm. Hoa sen hay bông sen là biểu tượng của vẻ đẹp chuẩn mực, vẻ đẹp của cả hình dáng bề ngoài và chiều sâu nội tâm trong quan niệm thẩm mĩ của người Ấn Độ. Khuôn mặt bông sen, đôi mắt hình hoa sen… là những hình ảnh miêu tả quen thuộc về người phụ nữ trong văn học Ấn Độ. Đọc chương truyện cùng với những cảm thương trước nỗi oan uổng của nàng, ta còn có thể sẻ chia cùng nàng cái cảm giác bị ruồng bỏ, dù rằng đằng sau sự ruồng bỏ ấy là tình yêu. Và có lẽ, đó chính là dấu ấn bi kịch trong bộ sử thi tràn ngập cảm xúc ngợi ca này.
Ta có thể hiểu tâm trạng của Ra-ma trong những lời buộc tội Xi-ta: ban đầu vì sợ tai tiếng, về sau là cảm giác nghi ngờ, ghen tuông. Trong lời nói có đầy đủ sự giận dữ, sự ghẻ lạnh, sự xúc phạm và lăng nhục của chàng vẫn có tình yêu. Nhưng chính tình yêu lại càng làm cho những lời nói của chàng trở nên độc ác. Chàng đã không chỉ buộc tội nàng, chàng đã xúc phạm và hơn thế, lăng nhục nàng bằng những lời lẽ nặng nề nhất. Và Xi-ta đã nghe, đã cảm nhận được tất cả những trạng thái tình cảm ấy ở chồng mình. Còn gì đau đớn hơn khi người thân yêu nhất của mình lại xúc phạm mình nặng nề đến thế?
Trước lời buộc tội của chồng, nàng Xi-ta trái tim tan nát, đau đớn đến nghẹn thở, xấu hổ cho số kiếp…, nghĩa là nàng phải trải qua một loạt những cảm xúc của nỗi đau, nỗi tủi nhục, nàng phải tự minh oan cho mình. Và nàng quả thật thông minh khi lần lượt chứng minh những ngờ vực của Ra-ma là không căn cứ. Nàng lấy danh dự, rồi nguồn gốc xuất thân, lòng trung thành, tình yêu của mình để làm minh chứng. Nhưng, tất cả dường như đều không đủ, đều vô nghĩa trước cơn giận dữ của Ra-ma. Chàng ngồi đó, “trông khủng thiếp như thần chết vậy”. Tình huống sử thi, tính cách nhân vật sử thi hay tâm lí con người bình thường đả chi phối diễn biến của chuyện, chi phối tâm trạng của Ra-ma? Chàng Ra-ma cao quý khi ấy có khác gì những con người bình thường, tầm thường nhất?
Thái độ của Ra-ma đã tạo nên hoàn cảnh bi thảm của Xi-ta buộc nàng phải chứng minh bằng hành động thuyết phục cuối cùng: bước lên giàn lửa. Thần lửa A-nhi sẽ là minh chứng cuối cùng, đủ sức thuyết phục nỗi nghi ngờ khổng lồ trong tâm hồn của chồng nàng. Lúc này, cho dù lâm vào hoàn cảnh nghiệt ngã ấy, ở nàng vẫn ngời lên một tình yêu thủy chung, trong sáng.
Có lẽ, chính tình yêu ấy làm nên lòng dũng cảm của nàng. Nàng bước vào ngọn lửa trong sự kêu khóc vang trời của muôn loài, trong nỗi thương xót cực độ của những người chứng kiến.
Thần lửa A-nhi đã khẳng định sự trong trắng của nàng: “Hỡi Ra-ma, Gia- na-ki của người đây. Nàng trong trắng. Nàng không phạm bất cứ tội lỗi nào, bằng lời nói, việc làm, hay ý nghĩ” (Dẫn theo SGK Ngữ văn 10, tập 1)
Sự trong trắng của nàng là sự trong trắng tuyệt đích. Cho dù bị xúc phạm, bị lăng nhục nhưng tình cảm của nàng, sự thủy chung của nàng vẫn không hề thay đổi. vẻ đẹp của nàng là vẻ đẹp của một tấm gương mà bất cứ một người phụ nữ nào trên trái đất này đều có thể soi và tự hoàn thiện mình. Nàng trở về trong vòng tay của Ra-ma sau sự chứng minh khóc liệt nhất. Đó là sự khẳng định cao nhất phẩm chất của nàng của sử thi.

Tuy thế, cảnh tượng bi tráng về nàng, nỗi đau của nàng vẫn còn để lại những dấu ấn không phai trong lòng người đọc. Nàng là biểu tượng của vẻ đẹp nhưng cũng là nỗi đau xót mà một người phụ nữ có thể gặp trong cuộc đời mình. Nhưng hơn hết, tình yêu vẫn luôn là phép màu kì diệu làm cho thế giới mãi mãi tốt đẹp hơn. Xi-ta là biểu tượng của sự hoàn thiện, hoàn mĩ về cả hình thức, tâm hồn và tình yêu cao cả. Nhưng bi kịch của nàng cũng tiêu biểu cho những gì mà người phụ nữ có thể gặp phải trong thế giới này.

Ra Ma buộc tội là một đoạn trích thể hiện những tâm trạng giằng xé, giữa tình yêu giữa xi Ta và Ra Ma, đây đều là những nhân vật, bao quanh và tạo nên những mẫu thuẫn đỉnh điểm trong câu chuyện, Xi ta là một nhân vật có thể thấy là đáng chú ý nhất, trong hoàn cảnh đó.
Trong mối quan hệ giữa Xi Ta và Ra Ma nó tạo nên nhiều tình tiết hấp dẫn, và những chi tiết đó đã để lại cho người đọc có nhiều cơ hội để có thể hiểu được tình tiết và nhân vật Xi Ta, trước những lời buộc tội của Ra Ma, Xi Ta đã đau đớn và trái tim như đang bị rằng xé bởi những lời trói buộc đó, đôi mắt đẫm nước mắt, những dòng tâm trạng của cô đã mang lại cho người đọc một tình cảm sâu sắc nhất, khi hình ảnh đó đã tác động sâu sắc đến tâm hồn và trái tim của tác giả. Mặc dù đau đớn và không kiềm chế được cảm xúc nhưng cô vẫn bình tĩnh để có thể thanh minh về những điều mà mình làm. Khi cô nghe được những lời trói buộc của Ra Ma chính cô còn có những thái độ ngạc nhiên đến cùng quẫn, và nó không chỉ để cho cô những cúc động và đau đớn đến nghẹn ngào, cô đang choáng ngợp trước những lời buộc tội đó. Nước mắt cô chảy ra, trái tim đau đớn đến tột cùng, khi người mà mình yêu thương, không tin tưởng vào chính mình.
Nhưng để giải quyết được những mâu thuẫn đó, Xi Ta đã dùng những lời lẽ để đáp trả những lời buộc tội của Ra Ma, một điều Xi Ta muốn chứng minh con người của mình, luôn là người chung thủy và không bao giờ làm bất cứ đều gì mà có lỗi mà ảnh hưởng đến người khác, chính vì vậy, để đáp tra lại những lời buộc tội đó trước tiên là nhân vật này dùng những lời lẽ trách móc chàng, sao lại dùng những lời buộc tội đó để lăng nhục phẩm chất của nàng. Và rồi để chứng minh đức hạnh và phẩm chất tiết hạnh của mình nàng đã nêu lên được những lời lẽ nhằm thuyết phục Ra ma tin tưởng vào con người của mình. Nàng luôn mong muốn Ra Ma tin tưởng vào con người của mình, nàng cũng là xuất thân từ một gia đình có nguồn gốc cao quý, chính những lý do đó đủ để có thể thuyết phục được Ra Ma. Vị trí xuất thân đã hơn phần những người khác nhưng đây mới chỉ là những lời nói mà Xi Ta đã dùng để nói với Ra ma, khi nàng cố giải thích cho chàng nghe về mình, về sự việc đã xảy ra, chính nàng đã bị bắt cóc và tên quỷ vương kia đã có những hành động xấu đối với nàng. Chính vì lý do nàng bị ngất đi và hành động đó nàng không thể biết được, đây là toàn bộ những lý do mà nàng giải thích, nhưng rồi những hành động cuối cùng mà nàng dùng để chứng minh cho Ra Ma biết về mình cũng là hành động quyết định rằng Ra Ma có tin tưởng vào Xi Ta hay không, nàng quyết định bước lên giàn lửa, đây là hành động sẵn sàng dùng cái chết để chứng minh về phẩm chất đức hạnh của mình, những hành động cao cả của nàng đã đủ để chứng minh rằng nàng là một cô gái có phẩm chất đạo đức vô cùng đáng quý, nó thể hiện một tình cảm mạnh mẽ và sâu sắc nhất đối với Ra Ma.
Nàng là một cô gái có những đức tính đáng khen ngợi, nó thể hiện một tinh thần cao cả, sẵn sàng hy sinh để giữ vững được danh dự và chứng minh tấm lòng son sắt của mình, những chi tiết này có thể thể hiện những tình cảm và sự chân thành sâu sắc nhất mà tác giả muốn thể hiện trong tác phẩm. Những chi tiết đã đem lại cho người đọc một cái nhìn đầy thiện cảm về một sự vật, và một hành động cao quý của Xi ta. Để chứng minh những điều đó, cô đã dùng những đạo đức và sự suy tư chiêm nghiệm sâu sắc nhất để chứng minh về con người của mình. Ra Ma buộc tội là một đoạn trích hay nó để lại cho người đọc nhiều cảm xúc, khi tình huống trong câu chuyện vô cùng hấp dẫn và nó thu hút người đọc bởi tính cách và dòng diễn biến tâm lý của nhân vật Xi Ta.

Trong nền văn học nhân loại, sử thi Ấn Độ giống như những con thuyền chuyên chở bài học đạo đức nhân sinh của các bậc đạo sĩ hiền triết hết mực ca tụng vẻ đẹp của đạo đức. “Ra-ma buộc tội”- đoạn trích thuộc hồi thứ 6, chương 79 của thiên sử thi “Ra-ma-ya-na” nổi tiếng của dân tộc Ấn Độ là một minh chứng tiêu biểu thể hiện điều đó. Trong những trang văn của thiên sử thi này, chúng ta thấy ngời sáng vẻ đẹp của cặp nhân vật “sánh đôi tri kỉ” làm nên vẻ đẹp của anh hùng ca. Bên cạnh Ra-ma- người anh hùng, đức vua mẫu mực hi sinh hạnh phúc cá nhân là vẻ đẹp của Xi-ta- người phụ nữ lí tưởng trong tâm thức người Ấn Độ với tình yêu, sự thủy chung đối với chồng cùng sự nhẫn nại chịu đựng, dũng cảm và vị tha.
Tuy “Ra-ma buộc tội” chỉ là một trích đoạn ngắn của sử thi “Ra-ma-ya-na” nhưng cũng đủ phác họa những nét cơ bản về vẻ đẹp của Xi-ta. Nàng có xuất thân cao quý cùng ngoại hình xinh đẹp tuyệt trần. Trong sử thi “Ra-ma-ya-na có một câu chuyện ghi chép về nàng Xi-ta, và “Rama buộc tội”, Xi-ta một lần nữa khẳng định nguồn gốc xuất thân cao quý của mình. Nàng là con gái của Thần Đất xuất hiện từ luống cày. Sự ra đời này chính là sự hình tượng hóa ý niệm về kết quả lao động của con người, thể hiện niềm hi vọng của họ khi cày xới và gieo hạt. Nàng luôn tự hào về dòng dõi cao quý đó và ý thức được phẩm giá của bản thân: “Thiếp có thể lấy tư cách của thiếp ra mà thề, hãy tin vào danh dự của thiếp. Suy từ hành vi của loại phụ nữ thấp hèn, chàng đã ngờ vực tất cả giới phụ nữ, nhưng như thế đâu có phải”. Nàng còn có vẻ đẹp tuyệt trần về ngoại hình với đôi mắt “to tròn đẫm lệ” và gương mặt như đóa sen “khuôn mặt bông sen”, “những cuộn tóc cuộn sóng”.
Không chỉ có xuất thân cao quý cùng ngoại hình xinh đẹp mà hình tượng của Xi-ta còn đi vào tâm trí người đọc bởi nhân cách cao quý. Đứng trước những lời buộc tội sắc lạnh và tàn nhẫn của Ra-ma, dù vô cùng đau đớn “đến nghẹt thở, như một dây leo bị vòi voi quật nát” nhưng Xi-ta vẫn bình tĩnh đưa ra những lời lẽ thấu tình đạt lí. Nàng đã chỉ trích những lời lẽ của Ra-ma và xem đó là “lời lẽ của một kẻ thấp hèn chửi mắng một con mụ thấp hèn”. Nàng đã gián tiếp khẳng định nguồn gốc cao quý của bản thân cùng vị trí tối cao, tôn quý mà Ra-ma đang nắm giữ, tức là khẳng định nàng đủ tư cách và hoàn toàn xứng đáng với chồng. Nàng cảm thấy đau đớn “Thân thể héo hon như dây leo bị vòi voi quật ngã”, “nước mắt đổ ra như suối” và xấu hổ “như muốn chôn vùi hình hài của mình chính bởi vì nàng luôn tự hào về xuất thân cao quý, và bởi một lẽ tự nhiên rằng những con người ý thức về nhân phẩm của bản thân bao giờ cũng sẽ đau khổ và giày vò khi nhân phẩm bị chà đạp. Bởi vậy, việc làm đầu tiên của nàng là khẳng định nguồn gốc xuất thân của mình để làm nền tảng nêu rõ giá trị nhân phẩm của mình.
Lí do thứ hai mà nàng đưa ra chính là số mệnh của nàng, khi nàng bị bắt cóc tức là nàng bị số phận đưa đẩy phải phụ thuộc vào quyền lực kẻ khác (“cái thân thiếp đây”) và điều trong vòng kiểm soát của nàng (“trái tim của thiếp đây”): nàng bị Ra-va-na đụng tới khi đang chết ngất là do số mệnh và nàng không thể làm gì khác nhưng trái tim, tức tình yêu của nàng hoàn toàn thuộc về Ra-ma. Và khi tỉnh táo, nàng đã hoàn toàn kháng cự lại Ra-va-na. Một con người một lòng một dạ chung thủy như vậy làm sao có thể chấp nhận những lời nói xúc phạm từ người chồng của mình. Nàng còn đưa ra bằng chứng hùng hồn để khẳng định những điều mà mình đã nói ra, đó chính là Ha-nu-man có thể làm chứng cho điều này.
Và để khằng định tuyệt đối nhân cách của bản thân, nàng quyết định nhảy vào lửa cùng lời nguyện cầu chân thành, khẩn thiết đối với Thần Lửa A-nhi: “Nếu con một lòng một dạ với Ra-ma thì cúi xin thần hãy bảo vệ con. Ra-ma đã coi một phụ nữ trinh tiết như một kẻ gian dối, nhưng nếu con trinh trắng thì xin thần A-nhi hãy phù hộ cho con”. Khi Xi-ta bước vào lửa, công chúng đã vô cùng xúc động: “Ai náy, gài cũng như trẻ, đau lòng đứt ruột xem nàng Gia-na-ki đứng trong giàn hỏa”, “các phụ nữ bật ra tiếng kêu khóc thảm thương. Cả loài Rắc-xa-ta lẫn loài Va-na-ra cùng kêu khóc vang trời trước cảnh tượng đó”. Hành động dứt khoát, quyết liệt của Xi-ta một lần nữa khẳng định sự tự ý thức về nhân cách cao quý của Xi-ta cũng như sự kiên quyết bả vệ phẩm hạnh của chính mình. Nàng đã làm một điều cao cả, vĩ đại xứng đáng với người mẹ nữ thần Đất cao quý thiêng liêng.
Mặc dù đoạn trích “Ra-ma buộc tội” chỉ kết thúc ở cảnh nàng Xi-ta đau đớn bước lên giàn lửa trước sự xúc động của mọi người nhưng độc giả vẫn có thể khẳng định rằng Thần Lửa A-nhi nhất định sẽ bảo vệ, minh chứng cho phẩm hạnh của nàng thông qua những lời nói, hành động mà nàng đã thể hiện. Và quả thật, theo dõi thiên sử thi này, nàng đã được Thần Lửa chở che, bước qua dàn lửa ngời sáng phẩm hạnh đẹp đẽ. Thần đã đưa nàng trả lại cho Ra-ma một cách vẹn nguyên và từ đó, nàng sánh vai bên Ra-ma, cùng chàng cai trị vương quốc. Nàng Xi-ta xứng đáng là mẫu phụ nữ lí tưởng của Ấn Độ: yêu chồng, thủy chung, nhẫn nại chịu đựng, dũng cảm và vị tha.
