8/6 là ngày thứ 159 (160 trong năm nhuận) trong lịch Gregory.
8/6 là ngày Đại dương Thế giới (World Oceans Day)
Năm 1992, Canada đã đề nghị chọn ngày 8/6 là ngày Đại dương Thế giới (World Oceans Day) trong Hội nghị Trái Đất ở Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Đến năm 2008, Liên Hiệp Quốc công nhận chính thức ngày 8/6 là ngày lễ quốc tế trong Nghị quyết A/RES/63/111.
Từ đó đến nay, nhiều nước trên toàn cầu đã tham gia ngày lễ này. Nó được tổ chức bởi các tổ chức quốc tế là Dự án Đại dương Thế giới (Ocean Project) và Mạng lưới Đại dương Thế giới (World Ocean Network).
Ngày Đại dương Thế giới được tổ chức nhằm nhắc nhở người dân trên toàn cầu cần quan tâm tới những giá trị của đại dương, các sản phẩm từ biển và đại dương trong tình trạng ô nhiễm toàn cầu và tiêu dùng quá mức các loài hải sản đã khiến cho lượng tài nguyên đại dương này đang ngày càng thu hẹp.
Ngày Đại dương Thế giới mang lại cơ hội cho mỗi người tham gia vào các hoạt động quảng bá, bảo vệ môi trường biển như nhặt rác tại bãi biển…
Chủ đề của Ngày đại dương thế giới 2022 là “Hồi sinh: cùng hành động vì đại dương”, thể hiện tầm quan trọng của các hoạt động phối hợp giữa các quốc gia và tổ chức nhằm hồi phục các hệ sinh thái biển, hồi phục sinh thái đại dương, bảo tồn tài nguyên và môi trường biển với mục tiêu phát triển bền vững.
