Trong khi học tiếng Anh, có nhiều bạn không phân biệt được khi nào sử dụng thì tương lai đơn với WILL và khi nào sử dụng thì tương lai gần với BE GOING TO.

Bài tập phân biệt thì tương lai gần và thì tương lai đơn

A. Phân biệt thì tương lai gần và thì tương lai đơn trong tiếng Anh

Bạn theo dõi ví dụ sau để thấy rõ sự khác nhau giữa thì Tương lai đơn (will) và thì Tương lai gần (going to) khi cả hai cùng nói về các sự việc trong tương lai.

Sue đang nói chuyện với Helen:

– Sue: Let’s have a party.

Hãy tổ chức một buổi tiệc đi.

Helen: That’s a great idea. We’ll invite lots of people.

Thật là một ý kiến hay. Chúng ta sẽ mời nhiều người tới tham dự.

Chúng ta sử dụng will khi chúng ta quyết định làm việc gì đó ngay tại thời điểm nói. Người nói trước đó chưa quyết định làm điều đó. Buổi tiệc là một ý kiến mới.

Sau hôm đó Helen gặp Dave:

– Helen: Sue and I have decided to have a party. We’re going to invite lots of people

Sue và tôi đã quyết định tổ chức một buổi tiệc. Chúng tôi dự định sẽ mời rất nhiều người
đến dự.

Chúng ta sử dụng (be) going to khi chúng ta đã quyết định làm điều gì đó rồi. Helen đã quyết định mời nhiều người tới dự bữa tiệc trước khi nói với Dave.

Bạn so sánh các ví dụ sau để phân biệt thì Tương lai gần (going to) và tương lai đơn (will):

1. “George phoned while you were out.” “OK. I’ll phone him back.”

“George đã gọi điện thoại trong lúc bạn ra ngoài.” “Vậy à. Tôi sẽ gọi lại cho anh ấy.”
vs

“George phoned while you were out.” “Yes, I know. I’m going to phone him back.”

“George đã gọi điện thoại trong lúc bạn ra ngoài.” “Vâng, tôi biết. Tôi định gọi
cho anh ấy ngay đây.”

2. “Ann is in hospital.” “Oh, really? I didn’t know. I’ll go and visit her.”

“Ann đang nằm viện.” “Ồ, thật ư? Tôi đâu có biết. Tôi sẽ đi thăm cô ấy.”

vs

“Ann is in hospital.” “Yes, I know. I’m going to visit her tomorrow.”

“Ann đang nằm viện.” “Vâng, tôi biết. Tôi định sẽ đi thăm cô ấy vào ngày mai.”

B. Tình huống và sự việc xảy ra ở tương lai (Dự đoán tương lai)

Đôi khi không có sự khác biệt nhiều giữa will và going to.

Chẳng hạn bạn có thể nói:

– I think the weather will be nice later.

hoặc

– I think the weather is going to be nice later.

Tôi nghĩ thời tiết sắp tới sẽ tốt hơn.

Khi chúng ta nói một việc nào đó sắp xảy ra (something is going to happen), chúng ta biết hay nghĩ tới điều đó dựa vào một tình huống trong hiện tại.

Ví dụ:

– Look at those black clouds. It’s going to rain.

(KHÔNG nói ‘It will rain’ — we can see the clouds now)

Hãy nhìn những đám mây đen kìa. Trời sắp mưa đấy.

(Chúng ta có thể nhìn thấy các đám mây vào lúc này)

– I feel terrible. I think I’m going to be sick.

(KHÔNG nói “I think I’ll be sick” — I feel terrible now)

Tôi cảm thấy khó chịu. Tôi nghĩ tôi sắp bị ốm rồi

(Bây giờ tôi đang cảm thấy khó chịu)

Với các trường hợp như trên, bạn KHÔNG sử dụng will.

Trong các trường hợp khác, chúng ta có thể sử dụng will.

– Tom will probably arrive at about 8 o’clock.

Tom có thể sẽ tới vào lúc 8h.

– I think Ann will like the present we bought for her.

Tôi nghĩ Ann sẽ thích món quà chúng ta đã mua tặng cô ấy.

Bài 1: Complete the sentences using will or going to

1. A: Why are you turning on the television?

B: I’m going to watch the news (I/watch)

2. A: Oh. I’ve just realized. I haven’t got any money.

B: Haven’t you? Well, don’t worry. …… you some (I/lend)

3. A: I’ve got a headache.

B: Have you? Wait a second and …. an aspirin for you (I/get)

4. A: Why are you filling that bucket with water?

B: ….. the car (I/wash)

5. A: I’ve decided to repaint this room.

B: Oh, have you? What colour …. it (you/paint)

6. A: Where are you doing?Are you going shopping?

B: Yes, …. something for dinner (I/buy)

7. A: I don’t know how to use this camera.

B: It’s easy. …… you (I/show)

8. A: What would you like to eat?

B: ….. a sandwich, please? (I/have)

9. A: Did you post that letter for me?

B: Oh. I’m sorry. I completely forgot. …….. it now (I/do)

10. A: The ceiling in this room doesn’t look very safe, does it?

B: No, it looks as if …. down (it/fall)

11. A: Has George decided what to do when he leaves school?

B: Yes. Everything is planned. …… a holiday for a few weeks. (he/have)

Then …. a computer programming course. (I/do).

Bài 2: Read the siuations and complete the sentences using will or going to

1. The phone rings and you answer. Somebody wants to speak to Jim

CALLER: Hello. Can I speak to Jim, please?

YOU: Just a moment. I’ll get him (I/get)

2. It’s nice day, so you have decided to take a walk. Just before you go, you tell your friend.

YOU: The weather’s too nice to stay in …. a walk (I/take)

Friend: Good idea. I think …… you (I/join)

3. Your friend is worried because she has lost an important letter.

YOU: Don’t worry about the letter. I’m sure …. it (you/find) Friend: I hope so

4. There was a job advertised in the paper recently. At first you were interested but then you decided not to apply.

Friend: Have you decided what to do about that job you were interested in?

YOU: Yes, …. for it. (I/not/apply)

5. You and a friend come home very late. Other people in the house are asleep.

Your friend is noisy.

YOU: Shh! Don’t make so much noise …. everybody up(you/wake)

6. Paul has to go to the airport to catch a plane tomorrow morning

PAUL: Liz, I need somebody to take me to the airport tomorrow morning.
